The possible role of game theoretic inference on the process of maximizing the payoffs for smart homes users and energy industry

Nowadays the smart home appliances are increasingly being used to make the place we live in more comfortable, safe, economical, and entertaining. This trend will continue in the future and it is expected that a home automation system will be required to offer domestic help.

Another topic of interest is the energy sector. The energy storage provided by renewable energy will expand drastically in the next decades. Hence, the power industry tends to be more efficient and sustainable, therefore important aspects such as cost and demand become the subjects of concern.

As a consequence, it would be reasonable to provide a service that will operate in between the homes and energy sector, which also can be described as a functional mechanism that is concerned about ensuring the best payoff for interested parties by using game theory model.

The service would offer automated solutions based on game theory, which would focus on providing the desired level of comfort in terms of reasonable price for the people living in a smart home. An evolutionary game with various sub-games would be simulated in order to justify the usage of game theory.  Moreover, the same service would ensure the energy storage system a good functioning of energy distribution.

It`s the hypothesis of the thesis that the service might bring benefit to all the players, with the help of this research.

Thesis goal

  1. The aim of this thesis is to develop a prove that the use of game theory can build up solutions that provide a high level of comfort and ensure the inhabitants their profits in terms of reducing the expenses on the community level. For the energy sector there would be created conditions so that the user demand can match the offer.
